In order to ensure national food security the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has developed and approved targeted programs part of which will be implemented by the involvement of foreign capital.
Asian Development Bank along with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan are developing project of “Achieving food security through VAT chain development adaptation to climate change regarding the milk and its processing” within the “Partnership Strategy with the State for 2016-2020”. In order to determine the priority directions of given project have been conducted meetings and consultations with the key stakeholders interested to milk processing sector, the results of which will provide good foundations for strengthening the mechanism of new project.
In order to review the project priorities and components, July 11, 2017 a seminar was held in Dushanbe where the representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, international investment organizations, milk processing factories, dehkan farms have participated. Representatives of the State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development” had also participated in the above mentioned workshop and expressed their thoughts regarding the new project.
It was expressed by the participants of the seminar that IFAD experiences on livestock and milk processing development can be used in the future, that ensure good foundation for the improvement of living standards of rural population and provision of food security.
