“Livestock and Pasture Development Project - II” phase implementation has started


In the context of strengthening the country's investment sector, Financing Agreement on funding of “Livestock and Pasture Development Project – II” second phase has been signed between the Republic of Tajikistan and International Fund for Agricultural Development and Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme Trust Fund on February 3, 2016 in Rome, Italy. Afterwards this Agreement has been ratified by the decision of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 502dated June 22, 2016,.

The main objective of the second phase of “Livestock and Pasture Development Project” is to contribute to the reduction of poverty in Vose, Danghara, Farkhor, Hamadoni and Kulob districts of Khatlon region, as well as to increase the nutritional status and incomes of targeted group of community through enhancing livestock and pasture productivity in a sustainable manner.

“Livestock and Pasture Development Project - II” second phase consists of the following components: institutional development, enhancing livestock productivity and production and improvement animal health, pasture development and diversification to reduce their vulnerability.

The given Project is being implemented by the State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development” and its executive agency is the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan. It should be noted that currently the first phase of the Project is being effectively implemented in other five districts of Khatlon region.
