Empowering rural women in Kuhdoman village

The rural women in Tajikistan are being empowered and involved into the employment and decent works, thanks to the support provided by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. IFAD funded projects are implementing activities toward achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Under the implementation of “Livestock and Pasture Development Project-II”, the fruit processing factory was organized and provided with necessary equipment with the involvement of rural women in Kuhdoman village of Farkhor district. This allows the rural women to save fruits from being wasted and process them in favorable conditions. Dried fruits have a great demand in all seasons therefore the women involved in this kind of activity can earn a good profit by selling them in local markets. Furthermore processing and packaging of other types of products is underway in this factory. All above initiatives ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for employment, improvement of their living conditions as well as improvement of income, education and daily life.
