The State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development” has provided the farmers of Devashtich and Shahriston districts with MTZ tractors, grain harvesting combines and modern agricultural equipment under the implementation of “Community-based Agricultural Support Project”. The foremost goal of providing the agricultural machinery and equipment to Project targeted districts is to support in effective use of arable lands, timely cultivation and collection of agricultural crops, this way is to increase the profitability of income and productivity of agriculture, as well as improving living standards of rural community.
Under the Project implementation, the farmers of Devashtich district became the owners of 9 MTZ tractors, 8 grain harvesting combines, 9 plows, 4 baler machines and Shahriston district 7 MTZ tractors and 7 tractor trailers.
The official distribution ceremony of agricultural machinery and equipment to farmers of Devashtich and Shahriston districts was held with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sulaimon Ziyozoda, Chairman of Sughd region Mr. Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, Director of the State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development” (PMU) Mr. Abdulahad Khojazoda, chairmen of above-mentioned districts and residents on January 5, 2021.
It was stated that agrarians of Devashtich and Shahriston districts had a high demand for such modern agricultural machinery and equipment. Machinery to cultivate, combine to collect grain and new agricultural equipment to facilitate effective land use and increase productivity.
During the distribution ceremony the PMU Director Abdulahad Khojazoda stated that tractors, combines and agricultural equipment have been provided to VOs based on instructions and assignments of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon on provision of modern agricultural machinery and equipment for agrarians and requests of population from project targeted villages and which have solved their long standing difficulties. At the same time, it was noted that provided machinery to be kept in good working condition and ensure their effective and purposeful use. Also, it was stressed that in turn the agrarians of targeted districts are required to use all existed opportunities as support of these initiatives and assistance of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and make their contribution towards the increasing of production of agricultural products, provide local markets with fresh domestic vegetables and fruits, as well as to develop the country’s export capacity.
One of the factors to increase the agricultural crops productivity is to follow agro-technical measures.
“Of course, with these provided machinery, the farmers will implement cultivation and collection of fodder crops in timely manner and with high-quality. In order to develop the sphere number of plans have been drafted that will be implemented in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development”- said Mr. Abdulahad Khojazoda.
It should be noted that Financial Agreement on Community-Based Agricultural Support Project was signed between the Republic of Tajikistan and International Fund for Agricultural Development. The Project goal is to support in economic development, improvement of rural community access to production and service infrastructure for steady development of agricultural products and improvement of rural population living standards. Based on Resolution of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on Village Organization, in order to facilitate on solving targeted villages problems, Village Organizations have been established in 23 villages of Devashtich district and 8 villages of Shahriston district.
