In the framework of working visit of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Khatlon region, farmers of Dusti and Jaihun districts have been provided with tractors and modern agricultural equipment under the Community-based Agricultural Support Project implementation funded jointly by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and International Fund for Agricultural Development through the State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development”.
The main purpose of provision with agricultural machinery and equipment to the targeted villages is to promote efficient use of arable land, timely planting and harvesting of agricultural crops, thereby increasing income and productivity and improving rural population living standards. Based on the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On public self-government bodies”, Village Organizations (VO) have been established to assist in solving village problems.
With the support of the Project financed jointly by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and International Fund for Agricultural Development, 8 MTZ-80 X tractors, 2 MTZ-892, 19 MTZ-82.1, 12 tractor trailers, 20 ploughs, 12 inter-raw rotary cultivator, 3 baler-machines, 3 harrows, 4 tractor mowers, 18 manual moto sprayers, 1 universal disc harrow and 1 tractor sprayer were delivered to the farmers of Dusti district. Furthermore, based on the request of VOs for cultivation and production of agricultural products, a number of sub-projects are being implemented. In particular, 21 VOs in Dusti district were provided with mobile offices and office equipment: computers, printers, bookshelves, desks and chairs. Also, 26 chicken incubators and 1,680 turkeys with more than 604 thousand kilograms of mixed fodder were distributed to 21 Women Income-Generating Groups.
10 tractors of MTZ – 80 X tractors, 20 MTZ- 82.1 tractors, 5 of UTO - 504 tractors, 8 tractor trailers, 24 ploughs, 2 inter-raw rotary cultivator, 2 baler-machines, 3 tractor mowers, 2 grass mowing machines, 1 tractor sprayer and 2 machines for harvesting fodder crops were delivered to Jaihun district. Under the Project implementation, 19 VOs were provided with mobile offices and office equipment: computers, printers, bookshelves, desks and chairs, 9 women groups were provided with 14 chicken incubators and 720 turkeys, as well as about 26 thousand kilograms mixed fodder.

Plowing machines and new agricultural machinery will contribute to more efficient use of land and increasing its productivity” said Abdulahad Khojazoda, Director of the State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development”. – “Of course, with these provided machinery, the farmers will conduct cultivation and collection of fodder crops in a timely manner and with high-quality. In order to develop the sphere, number of sub-projects have been drafted that will be implemented in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
Rahmon Damonov, Coordinator of Community-based Agricultural Support Project, said that the Project is being implemented in 7 cities and districts of Sughd and Khatlon regions and RRS - Devashtich, Shahriston, Norak, Dusti, Jaihun, Rasht and Tojikobod, that is covering 46 982 households. Its goal is to promote economic development, improve public access to production infrastructure and services for sustainable agricultural production, and improve rural population living standards.
It was noted that the natural potential of Dusti and Jaihun districts is great to ensure an increase in agricultural production. Based on such support, farmers can expand area under crops and grow crops based on modern scientifically based experience and increase production of quality agricultural products.
