DUSHANBE, December 26, 2014 (NIAT “Khovar”, Rano Nusratullozoda) -The State Enterprise “Project Management Unit “Livestock and Pasture Development” (PMU) with support of the Government of Tajikistan and International Fund for Agricultural Development and in cooperation with the respective ministries and organizations undertakes the implementation of two important projects in sphere of agriculture, that are the “Livestock and Pasture Development Project” and “Khatlon Livelihoods Support Project”.
As it was reported by Muhriddin Muzaffarov the representative of given Projects, the main goals of both projects is the improvement of rural population livelihoods through development of local infrastructure, provision of agricultural machinery and equipment to population in targeted districts, development of livestock husbandry and efficient pasture management. Under implementation of the “Khatlon Livelihoods Support Project” with the purpose to develop livestock husbandry and stock breed improvement in project area, are being undertaken special activities.
In order to improve cattle breed in country the activity on delivery of purebred bulls from outside the country intended for animals artificial and natural insemination is being undertaken. On these bases as of today, 20 heads of purebred bulls of the Schwyz and Black and White breeds have been purchased and distributed among population in 16 jamoats of Vose, Farkhor, and Temurmalik districts. It should be noted that one of the country’s strategic objectives – food security seriously depends on development of agricultural sector. Livestock sphere also plays an important role this course. Livestock production along with other affecting factors depends on thebreed of livestock. Through improvement the quality of livestock breed, it turns to be possible to increase production with low-cost productive means.
